I was with Uli in Tokyo in 2014-2016 and continuing long distance for much of the last eight years. We spoke often, and I caught up with her in Brussels in the spring. I’ve posted some of the 2014-2024 photos of her on this website that Dylan lovingly created, and on Uli’s FB page.
I’ll miss Uli’s beautiful smile. I’ll miss the fun we had traveling around Japan, both when she lived here and during her later visits (2017, 2019, 2023). I remember the many places in Tokyo that we saw and enjoyed together. And I’ll miss the quiet times spent talking with her about books, films, art, travel, and the things she did in her busy, adventurous life. She’s no longer with us, but her strong presence remains.
She loved life so much. She had so many good friends who loved her. In her work, she tried so hard to overcome the challenges and do good things. She had so much to give.
She leaves those who knew her with unforgettable memories. Thank you, dear Uli. From Jeff.
